I LOVE a good poncho! So I was pretty excited to receive the latest Mamu Design patterns...

Ponchos are apparently big news in Europe at the moment, which means by the time our Winter rolls around- they'll be in the shops here too. But being Crafty Mamas, we have the advantage here...get in early and make your own poncho, exactly as you like it!

Need a little inspiration? Looky HERE, and HERE.  And HERE! Ponchos everywhere! I love these cape style tees too....

Winter may not be so bad this year after all.....

Farbenmix ELODIE at Crafty Mamas

Finally I got to trial this lovely new Farbenmix- ELODIE.
Grab yours over at Crafty Mamas!

ELODIE is in German, bit the Farbemix ladies (helpful as always!) have a step by step tute available. I was very mindful of it being slim fitting, and as I made this one for Lil (7) I used  her usual height size but went up one size in width. It worked perfectly. I also left off the zip.

The fabric I used as my muslin is a light cotton voile I think I picked up from Spotlight. It must have been cheap as I have 10 m of the stuff!!

This is very very pretty peasant style dress with variations in the sleeves. You can glam it up for formal or make as plain as you wish. The cut of the skirt is just superb, rates very high on the twirl factor.

Time involved: about 1 1/2 hours  sewing and elasticing etc.

My model is not very cooperative today, but I think she loves it..even though it is not red!

My Poor Sewing Machines... SUMMER Neglection!

I think my sewing machines may soon file for a divorce! The last thing I remember sewing up was a speedy red velvet Christmas stocking on Christmas Eve when Lil's went missing! I have lots cut out ready to sew up ( bathers, yoga pants, skirts) but it is not happening! Normally in Summer, I hide indoors with the aircon and sew to my hearts content. But this year two factors have interfered:

1. The husband has been home for almost 3 weeks. Yep, 3 weeks. For a husband who works away, to suddenly be around for 3 weeks takes a bit of adjusting- for all of us! He managed to keep us busy with trips everywhere and little projects outside of home.

2. The POOL. This year, we have a big humungous pool in the back yard. Only an above ground number, but quite large nonetheless.  So anyday the temperature reaches above 20o, we end up out back in the pool.

So what's a Crafty Mama to do? Adapt to her changing environment. This is my latest portable poolside/car trip project...a blanket for the eldest.
Based on the one from The Handmade Dress
except I have just realised my corners are a bit different, but no matter! I am enjoying the mindless "doing".

I have also had a little dye fest in the laundry in the evenings...

How are you maintaining your Crafty-ness over Summer?

Lisa :)

I was very good last year, so Santa gave me a Silhouette SD! Lucky me! I have also been very busy and have not had any spare time to play with it. This morning however, I managed to conquer the "trace" and cut iron on vinyl- SWEET. Check out this cute litte set of gamer graphics hot off the SD! ( there was an extra, but I broke his leg by accident when tidying him up!).

How CUTE are these guys???
They are also so easy to do, it's a bit embarrassing!

Thankyou Santa!

ps: free SHIPPING this weekend in the SHOP!
